North Carolina Concealed Carry Firearm Course
North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Training Course is required by any one who wishes to carry a concealed handgun in the state of North Carolina. Below are the answers to some general questions.
The Concealed Carry Handgun Instructor Certification program is regulated through the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, as designated in NCGS 14-415.12 (a)(4).
What is required to Obtain a Concealed Carry Permit in NC?
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Successfully complete a firearms training course
- State resident for at least 30 days
- No mental or physical deformity that can impact firearm use
Handguns In Vehicles
- It is unlawful to carry a concealed handgun in a vehicle unless the person has a valid concealed carry permit.”
- A person who is not a convicted felon may carry a handgun if not concealed.
- A handgun is concealed in a vehicle if it cannot be readily seen by a person approaching and if it is readily accessible. A handgun under the front seat or in an unlocked glove box or console is illegal. A handgun openly displayed or in a locked glove box, locked console, or in the trunk is lawful.
